Matthew Ryals
On tour from New York City, Matthew Ryals is a modular synthesist working in experimental and improvised music. This concert is a special Milan release show for Exalge, his new collaborative album with Milan-based violist effe effe, recorded live at our venue in 2023 and released last month on vinyl by Infrequent Seams.
 
Ryals will perform an improvised solo set for modular synthesizer, weaving together microsound, texture, noise, silence, and wide dynamic ranges to create aural environments that echo the qualities of the natural world. His work has been recognized by a 2025 Art Omi: Music Residency, 2025 Foundation for Contemporary Arts Grant, 2022–23 New Music USA Award, and a 2021 IEA Electronic Media Residency. He has released music on Infrequent Seams, SØVN, Oxtail Recordings, 3OP, and other experimental labels. He has toured internationally, with over 50 concerts this year alone, including performances at High Zero Festival 2025 and Ex Nihilo Festival 2025. He also co-curates Artifact, a Brooklyn-based experimental music series that was awarded a 2025 Brooklyn Arts Council grant.

Monika Rogalska (violin) and Monika Jakubowska (movement) perform an opening act exploring the dialogue between sound and gesture. Their presence shifts and transforms, letting music and movement emerge, intertwine, and dissolve. The work blurs the line between performer and environment, creating a space of subtle tension and resonance.
